Pippa Hodgson MCSP MSc
Career Biography
Pippa started her career as a physiotherapist, ultimately specialising in stroke rehabilitation on the Nottingham Stroke Unit. In this role, she supported and took part in a range of research projects as part of the University of Nottingham’s Stroke Research Unit including developing an assessment tool for predicting future physical recovery following stroke, based on trunk control & presenting at an international conference.
She then moved into human resources working in the areas of management & organisation development and education & training. She worked on projects nationally (Clinical Placements in Primary and Community Care for the DH 2000) and locally (implementation of the Follet Report and Investors in People in a large acute teaching trust). Pippa led on a partnership project with the two teaching hospital Boards in Nottingham as an alternative to merger.
Her next role was as the healthcare science and allied health professional lead at Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Strategic Health Authority where she was also the lead for Diagnostic Modernisation.
Joining Skills for Heath, Pippa led the Modernising Healthcare Scientist Careers project as part of the UK Modernising Careers Programme. Whilst in this role, she worked with the regulatory body, employers, universities and the profession to develop the registerable qualification for Hearing Aid Dispensers, which was described as “ground breaking” by the Hearing Aid Council. More recently she took on the Regional Director post in the East Midlands for Skills for Health, working with strategic partners and regional employers to promote the skills needs for the health sector.
